Our Mission
What We Do
JHU BMES is committed to serving the undergraduate BME community professionally, socially, and academically. We host a variety of events and seminars to connect undergraduates with faculty members and professional leaders; to provide resources that allow students to excel; and to promote engagement with the local Baltimore community.
Host Industry and Research Events
BMES is committed to providing students opportunities to develop career opportunities in academia, industry, and graduate school. Our chapter achieves this in a variety of ways:

Annual speaker series and skills workshops: invite scholars and professional leaders in industries spanning engineering, data science, consulting, medicine, and public health to...

Mid-Atlantic Research Day: host a symposium focused on celebrating medical and technical research projects conducted by undergraduates from Hopkins and peer institutions.

Professional Development workshops: assist students with creating research portfolios, crafting their resumes, and finding the opportunities that bet fit their academic and career goals.
BME Social Events and Branding
BMES is dedicated to bringing BME undergraduates, graduates, and faculty members together and strengthening the BME identity!

Winter and Spring Socials: we bring together members of the BME community at Hopkins for our semesterly socials to celebrate the closing of each semester

Freshmen mentorship: to help new BME students adjust to the social and academic environment at Hopkins, we host a wide array of freshmen social and academic advising events and mentorship groups throughout the fall semester.

Merchandise: we are the number one source of all BME-related merchandise!
Host Outreach Events
As an integral component of the local Baltimore community, BMES is committed to garnering interest in STEM careers and educating local elementary, middle, and high school students about opportunities in engineering and research. As such, BMES hosts outreach events at local schools and after-school centers to spread awareness about engineering and is developing an outreach program to provide resources to local students who are interested in pursuing research projects in grade school.
